I'll never forget when I first heard Annie's 'Chewing Gum.' It was summer camp of 5th grade and one of the camp counselors decided to play her entire album all the way through while we swam in the pool before parent pick up. I decided I was too cool to put on sunscreen as some sort of attempt to impress the cute girls and wow the cool guys. That was the worst sunburn I ever got. My shoulders picking up the reflection of the late summer afternoon sun off the surface of the pool for an hour and some change. I could barely wear a shirt for the next week.
